Anti-Ragging Policy

Preamble: At Divine Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all our students. Ragging, in any form, is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. We believe in upholding the dignity of every individual and ensuring a positive academic atmosphere that supports learning and personal growth.

Definition of Ragging: Ragging is any act that causes or is likely to cause physical, psychological, or emotional harm or apprehension to any student. This includes:

Physical abuse (e.g., forcing activities, assault, or use of force).
Verbal abuse (e.g., name-calling, insults, or demeaning language).
Psychological harassment (e.g., threats, intimidation, or exclusion).
Any act that disrupts the academic activities of a student.
Any act that violates the dignity and respect of an individual.

Zero Tolerance Policy: Our institute adopts a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. All reported incidents of ragging will be promptly investigated and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against those found guilty.

Preventive Measures
Awareness Programs: Regular awareness programs and workshops will be conducted to educate students and staff about the negative impacts of ragging and the importance of a supportive academic environment.
Mentorship and Counseling: A strong mentorship and counseling system will be in place to support new students and help them integrate smoothly into the campus community.
Anti-Ragging Committees and Squads: An Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squads will be established, comprising faculty members, staff, and student representatives to monitor and prevent ragging activities on campus.

Reporting Mechanism: Students are encouraged to report any incidents of ragging to the designated authorities without fear of retaliation. Reports can be made through:

Anti-Ragging Helpline: A dedicated helpline number will be available for students to report incidents of ragging.
Email: Students can also report incidents via email to the anti-ragging committee.
In-Person: Students can approach the Anti-Ragging Committee members or any faculty member directly to report incidents.

Disciplinary Action: Any student found guilty of ragging will face stringent disciplinary actions, which may include:

Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
Withholding or cancelation of scholarships and other benefits.
Debarring from appearing in any examination or other evaluation processes.
Suspension or expulsion from the hostel.
Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from one to four semesters.
Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.
Collective punishment if individuals committing or abetting ragging are not identified.

Support for Victims: Our institution is committed to providing full support to victims of ragging. This includes:

Counseling services to help cope with trauma.
Academic support to ensure that the victim's education is not adversely affected.
Ensuring the confidentiality of the victim’s identity to protect their privacy and dignity.
